Another Direction

At the Equinox, nature reaches a moment of balance, then turns toward a new season. We are invited to do the same.

Sometimes healing asks us to go deeper. Other times, we have dug far enough. The obstacle in our path may not be asking us to push harder, but to notice another way.

The dandelion doesn’t stay in bloom. The bloom itself is only one stage. It contracts, transforms into seed, and then the Wind carries those seeds into an entirely new expansion.
That shifts the question from “Am I expanding or contracting?” to something richer:
Where am I in the cycle, and what is this phase asking of me?
Because we often judge contraction as though something has gone wrong. Nature doesn’t.
Birth and death.
Inhale and exhale.
Bloom and seed.
High tide and low tide.
Summer and winter.
Wakefulness and sleep.
Full moon and dark moon.
There is no permanent state of expansion in a living system.
And that could be one of your strongest lines this morning:
The goal is not to live in constant expansion. The practice is to recognize the wisdom of the cycle we are in.
Then the journey becomes less about deciding whether expansion is good and contraction is bad, and more about asking the Wind: What is trying to open? What needs to draw inward? What is ready to be released? And what seeds are ready to be carried forward?
